Joyce Dayvault, RN, BBA joined the VHHA Center for Healthcare Excellence in July 2017 as Director of Performance Improvement, with much of her work with the Association focusing on Healthcare Acquired Infection and sepsis prevention. Joyce brings to the VHHA over 40 years of healthcare experience. Before joining the Center, she was Chief Quality Officer at Southside Regional Medical Center (SRMC) in Petersburg VA. There, she was responsible for regulatory and survey compliance, quality measure reporting, hospital-wide performance improvement activities and multiple committee responsibilities. She was an administrative team lead of their Patient Safety Organization and High Reliability Team. In the past 6 years Joyce has served on the VHHA Center for Healthcare Excellence Advisory Council and was active in helping with the Patient Safety Summit. Prior to that time, she served on the Board of Directors for 6 years at VHQC (now HQI). Her past nursing expertise has been in infection control, behavioral health and disease management. A diploma graduate of Petersburg General Hospital’s School (now SRMC) of Professional Nursing; she also received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Averett University. She has a Yellow Belt in Lean Six Sigma. She is currently working on obtaining her Certification as a Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ). Joyce is married with two grown children and a son-in-law preparing for the ministry. Joyce’s husband, David, is also a registered nurse. They reside in North Dinwiddie County.
