Matt Strader joined VHHA in October 2014 and serves as VHHA’s Senior Director of Policy & Strategic Planning. His primary responsibilities with VHHA include grassroots and member outreach and managing the association’s federal lobbying efforts. Prior to joining VHHA, Matt ran a government affairs consulting business and worked as a lobbyist in Washington, D.C. From 2010 through January 2014, Matt worked in the Office of the Governor for the Commonwealth of Virginia as the Assistant Secretary of Transportation. In this capacity, he was responsible for managing the administration’s transportation-related policy development and government relations at the federal, state and local levels. After graduating from Hampden-Sydney College with a B.A. in Political Science, Matt worked at McGuireWoods LLP and served on several statewide political campaigns. He is also a graduate of the Virginia Executive Institute.
