R. Brent Rawlings joined VHHA in 2013 and is serves as Senior Vice President & General Counsel. His role at VHHA includes legal, governmental and regulatory affairs.

Brent holds a J.D. degree from the University of Richmond, an M.H.A. degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and a B.S. degree in Health Policy and Administration from Pennsylvania State University. Brent also is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) and board certified in health care management.

Prior to joining VHHA, Brent worked in the private practice of law for over eight years, focusing on health care regulatory and transactional matters including representation of hospitals and health systems, academic medical centers, physician groups, ancillary providers, long-term care facilities, senior care communities and managed care plans. Before attending law and graduate schools, Brent worked in the managed care industry for approximately four years. During graduate school, Brent worked for VHHA as an administrative intern. Brent resides in Midlothian with his wife Alexis and two daughters, Amelia and Marjorie.
