Virginia Has Voted: 2017 Elections Place Policy Focus on Health Care

The latest edition of VHHA’s FOCUS publication summarizes the results of the Nov. 7 Virginia elections for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, and all 100 seats in the House of Delegates and looks ahead to what implications those outcomes may have for state health care policy in 2018 and beyond. Democrats won the three statewide contests on the ballot and gained 15 seats in the state House. Those results represent a substantial shift in the partisan composition of the Virginia General Assembly and could influence how the legislature and other elected officials approach health care policy going into next year.
