Centra Bedford Memorial Hospital
Bedford Memorial Hospital works hard to provide resources and support to seniors in the community by participating in community events such as health education seminars to organizations such as the Area Agency on Aging and Senior Centers, and senior education and outreach such as participating in Elderfest and conducting dementia seminars throughout the community.
The hospital is proud to serve the health needs of the community by providing monthly blood pressure and blood sugar screenings through the public library system, offering educational materials at community festivals, and conducting health screenings at local expos and health fairs. Hospital personnel also lead many health education seminars throughout the year with topics such as Heart Disease, Healthy Heart and Nutrition, Weight Management, Bereavement and Grief, and more.
Centra Southside Community Hospital
Centra Southside Community Hospital serves its community and the surrounding eight counties in many ways. Our nurses and staff are enthusiastic about participating in community events by conducting blood pressure checks, providing free health education materials to the general public, and assisting in health screenings.Nurses from our Pediatric Unit teach breast feeding classes, child car seat classes, and give free car seats to participants.
During 2015, the hospital held many health fairs throughout the community offering cholesterol, glucose, BMI, and blood pressure screenings. In conjunction with the Shriners, we conducted annual free health screening at the hospital for all children with orthopedic or burn issues.
