Bon Secours Memorial Regional Medical Center
Mechanicsville, Va.

Safe Harbor’s Community Counseling Program in partnership with Bon Secours Memorial Regional Medical Center fills an important Behavioral Health gap in the community. Safe Harbor is addressing the needs of victims of violence, who have experienced emotional or physical abuse. Annually they work with over 300 adults who have experienced violence and 60 children who have experienced or witnessed violence in the home. Counseling goals include building these strengths, combating depression and anxiety, recognizing and managing trigger mechanisms, and coping with everyday life stresses. Resiliency and self-empowerment are key goals.

Bon Secours St. Mary's Hospital
Richmond, Va.

SCAN’s Child Advocacy Center (CAC) opened in 2004 to improve the region’s investigation, treatment, and prosecution of child sexual abuse and severe physical abuse cases by implementing an innovative, multidisciplinary response system. The CAC serves those who are most vulnerable, providing a safe, stable, child-friendly facility where victims can receive comprehensive services, including: forensic interviews, mental health therapy, and case management. In order to accommodate families and children in Henrico County, SCAN has developed a satellite CAC in collaboration with Bon Secours Forensic Nursing and other Henrico partners to serve only residents in Henrico County. St. Mary’s estimates more than 500 forensic interviews per year.

Centra Southside Community Hospital
Farmville, Va.

Centra Southside Community Hospital participates in the “Heart of Virginia Free Clinic,” by providing all lab tests and radiology exams for free. In 2015, 625 tests and exams were provided to the community at no charge. This donated service resulted in a community benefit exceeding $58,475. Many of our staff volunteer at the clinic. We also provide food for the clinical workers at the clinic as a small token of appreciation for those individuals who volunteer their professional services to benefit those individuals who cannot afford medical care. The hospital is eager to help educate our community on the importance of preventive care.
