VHHA 2025 Annual Report on Community Benefit

Virginia’s hospitals and health systems provided $4.5 billion in community benefit and other types of community support in the Commonwealth in 2024, according to the 2026 Annual Report on Community Benefit from the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association. Virginia hospitals also account for $68.8 billion in positive economic impact in the state.

The data in this report are based on hospital costs, not charges, and includes acute-care and certain specialty hospitals in the state. “Community benefit” was defined using the Internal Revenue Service definition for Schedule H of Form 990. Please use the interactive tool below to learn more:
